　While it is true that ski area charges and the cost of living in China is cheaper than Japan or elsewhere in the world, there are few drawbacks:

1. The ski areas are much smaller in China, the largest ski area in China is comparable to the smallest ones in Tahoe, for example.
2. The snow conditions are not as good, especially those near BJ, much man made snow and icy conditions.
3. More crowded than other areas
4. People in China do not follow the skier's code of ethics and results more injuries due to collisions. Those injuries are not self-inflicted.
5. The facilities are antiquated.
6. Administration is poor. For example, there are cases that the rental shop does not return deposit after everything is returned to their satisfaction!

　关键是我们怎么去学习和改进。不过没看明白的是中国最大的雪场跟Tahoe最小的雪场一样？？Tahoe是哪里 ？？

正好我半个月前去了这个“Tahoe"地区其中的一个叫Heavenly滑雪场，比较起来，的确如同文中所言。Tahoe是一个高山湖，四周是绵延的雪山，大概有7－10个滑雪场。仅Heavenly就有差不多20条以上的缆车（包括封闭高速的gondola). 雪道就更多了，我滑了两天，也没有滑完所有的雪道。粗略估计，规模大概是万龙的5－10倍。雪质也很好，基本上都是天然的，至少一尺多深，所有雪道都在山中树林中穿过，天然纯粹，景色绝好。

有一点与国内有所不同，这里的雪道两边基本上都没有防护网，好在我还有些基础，不会滑落其中。当时我在想，如果换在国内，我们有那么多胆大的初级选手，每天不知道要出多少事故。也许是美国很多人从小就滑雪，水平总体比较高的缘故，我在的两天，没见到有人因为收不住滑到外面去。还有一点挺奇怪的，就是这里的人坐缆车上山基本上都不会放下上面的防护栏。这里的缆车速度都很快，至少是4人甚至有6人的。一开始还觉得不放下防护栏会很危险，时间长了，看见其他人都不用，也就放心了。

Heavenly旺季一天的缆车票是73美元，没有其他门票。租雪具一天大致是28美元。加在一起一天大致是100美元。不考虑汇率，同比起来，还是比国内要便宜。

玩了两天半，感觉非常好，根据国家地理和探索频道的全球最佳滑雪场评比，这里排在第六。
